Mrs. Mazel has been one of the most amazing people I have met. She’s always been there to support me through my ups and downs in 8th grade; she tries her very best to help and support me, as well as her other students who were in her class. She has helped me every step of the way since I joined New Way. Not only that, but she would also help me find the class since I didn’t know my way around the school, and I appreciate her doing that because little things people do for you do matter. I’m glad that I have been able to meet Mrs. Mazel. If you ever have the chance to talk to her, I’ll say go for it!
Now, for 10 years, she has been teaching at New Way. When she first joined New Way, she toured New Way with Mrs. Chavez. She thought to herself, “I have to work at this school; this place is incredible.” So she made a decision, and it was to stay at New Way. She always thought she wanted to be a teacher, but when she went to college, she wasn’t really sure if she wanted to teach. She ended up studying international affairs, economics, and Spanish, and even thought about working for World Bank or becoming an anthropologist, but when she studied abroad in Spain, she taught English immersion classes at a bilingual school, and that’s when she knew for certain she wanted to become a teacher, even though she doesn’t do much with her degree. The experiences she had in college led her to where she is at right now.
Her hobbies are spending time with her family, going on walks, reading, and traveling. She now does new ways of financial aid special aid specialist. She works with both current and prospective families and helps them understand the different scholarships that exist in Arizona. She also works with different scholarship organizations throughout the valley to help advocate and build relationships that support New Way students.
