This year I’ve had Mr. Brodie as my graphic design teacher. It’s so fascinating to me that I have never done graphic design before. Still, once I got used to it, I really loved it. Everything about that class is that you need to use your creativity. It helps if you’re not as creative as me which isn’t a bad thing. Slowly developed the creativity that I thought was gone as a kid. It helped me get that back.

The first couple of times, it was a struggle since I really wasn’t sure if I had that talent; it might be easy for some kids. Still, I had to actually take my time on it since it wasn’t anything similar to what I had done in the past. I had to use my creativity this time. I didn’t know what colors I should use, what elements would go great with my slides, and more. After struggling to understand it, I finally got the hang of doing it. I have been allowed in that class and made more friends. I’m really proud of the work I’ve done this past year. 

Mr. Brodie is a great teacher if you like to design billboards, edit, and make anything. He’s a supportive teacher, very energetic, funny, and we all bond with him. There might be ups and downs with all of us, but he’s a wonderful teacher at the end of the day. 

There are things about him that he shared with me that I didn’t know. I got his permission to share it with all of you, bulldogs. Being a teacher can be incredibly hard and easy for some teachers. For Mr. Brodie, it’s rewarding; it keeps him on his feet. It also requires a lot of knowledge, planning, and lots of patience. He has said that developing patience has been the most difficult thing for him. When he was a little kid, he was not going to be a teacher; he wanted to be an NBA star. He wanted to be Steve Nash, and an incredible point guard just like him, for the Phoenix Suns. 

For 2026, he wants to be the best husband to his wife and father to his kid who’s on the way. It will be his and his wife’s first kid! He also would like to learn Spanish since his wife is fluent and they want their baby to be fluent as well. He also has a 1300 streak on Duolingo. However, he wants to start practicing in real life with his wife; the full immersion helps him learn much more.

He’s a great teacher if anyone is interested in learning graphic design.
