Schools have electives and clubs to get someone to do and have a good time and to give them something new to explore that they have not done. New Way Academy has many after-school activities that we all do. I wonder if you would like to see more unique activities, such as music or a magic club. We all have a club or activity that is not here, and we want that to be a reality someday.
But first, let’s compare clubs and electives, or as I like to call them, “classes”. A club is a hobby, it is for fun, and it always happens after school. An elective is a skill-based activity, it is an exposure to college, and it is for career options. The clubs can also become electives over time if people like the clubs. Two of the clubs that students suggested were football and Pokémon Club.
Some of the clubs I want are music, magic, or the puzzles club, just to name a few. Other clubs that someone wants could be roller-skating, LEGO, or robotics clubs. There are a bunch of clubs that I did not mention, and you may want another person’s clubs to happen; only time will tell.
Take our new club, Simon’s book club, for example, which was something that a student had recommended. This shows us that we can recommend clubs or classes that can happen. It’s the reason journalism is a class at New Way because a student recommends it. It started as a club that Simon, a student, started with Mrs. Clark, and the club’s success led to an entire journalism class, which I am a member of right now. Not only that, but it is now 2 years old, and the staff writers really are doing great work!
So if there are any clubs or classes that you want to happen, just ask the teachers or staff that work here, or just answer this one simple poll question.
