As with most, if not all, music genres, some artists are considered underrated. The same applies to K-pop, with so many famous groups and modern icons, some golden tickets out of the pile get left out, for example, Baby Don’t Cry, being such a fantastic K-pop group with amazing vocals and visuals, just listen to I Don’t Care, or Bittersweet I’ll make you question every K-pop artist you ever listened to. Another group I would like to give some recognition to, that, in my opinion, has some bangers, but gets barely any recognition, is Purple Kiss. Just listen to Autopilot on Cabin Fever; it singlehandedly changed my view on K-pop as a whole. The high note itself is better than 90 percent of the entire K-Pop industry.
Yet there is even better, as 90s Project, who is a soloist and has less than 60k streams across Spotify and Apple Music, might be the most underrated, if not one of the most K-Pop soloists on this planet. The song she has is called Another Way. I think that it’s the most beautiful K-pop I’ve ever listened to; it has brought me to tears on multiple occasions. Now heading into the subgenre of fantasy K-pop, we have a group called Dreamcatcher, whose main focus is telling stories in their songs, which is very interesting. For example, their song Bon Voyage meaning good journey references the path from the mortal world to the afterlife. This continues with odd eye being about a mythical eye that has some sort of power, and Piri being about finding self-confidence in times of crisis, which I think has a strong message. And I almost forgot their best song in my opinion justice which is about fighting for what is right or fighting the darkness in the forest that also crosses into Odd Eye, the tree of wisdom there’s 2 more K-Pop artist I would like to mention here, the first reason is the seasons vibe as a group in my opinion is a unique style for k-pop their summer album Scendrome has to be there 2nd best album with a great main track in Love Attack and Pinball. But I still don’t think it’s their best album, with that Autumn going to Lip Bomb, with it beginning with an Autumn-themed song, Bloom being a very underrated and underappreciated song that deserves better.
The final K-pop i would like to give attention to is Secret Number being the techno/dance leader of the kpop industry with fire songs such as Fire Saturday being an incredible dance song and a good hype song for and got that boom which is just a perfect techno dance song that is very catchy and gets stuck in my head theres 1 more song i want to give reconition for is Who Dis? Yes, I find the song a little cringe, but I mean it’s a banger, it’s catchy, fresh, and feels like it has soul in it, which can’t be said for some other K-pop groups, unfortunately.
Conclusion, I wanted to give credit to what I felt like were K-pop groups that don’t get much attention despite how talented all these groups are. If you like K-pop, check out all of these groups. I promise you will not regret it. It only gets better the more you listen and remember, K-pop fans. The diamonds in the rough groups are always the ones that sparkle brightest.
