For those who don’t know, Esports is a game where you play Super Smash Bros on the TV In the Tech room, and last year New Way managed to win as state champions with 2025 Seniors Landon Priest and Jack Schneider, and Junior Isaac Schwartz. This time we are defending state champions with new teammates because our captains graduated. Our goals are trying to keep that status of champion, in this year, Isaac Schwartz, Liam Kelly, and Skye Buckey lead Team 1. I’m in Team 2 with Senior Connelly Roundy and Freshman, Danke Kehoe. We are trying our best to improve our skills and prepare for this year’s upcoming season.
Our Editor-In-Chief Simon McAvity had a chance to sit down with Isaac and Liam for an interview, and they had a few things

to say about this year. Isaac believes that they may have less of chance this year, but I believe the team will make it. Liam says that we lost a few of our best players but Isaac, Skye, and Liam on Team 1 are still a winning group. It is stressful that we are defending champions, but we are making progress, and Liam says he does not feel like he won because he was on a different team. Isaac says, “It is isolating that I am the only one on my original team, but the teams are doing their best.” Furthermore, it motivates Liam because it’s fun, and he is good at it, and Isaac it motivated by wanting to have a good lasting impression once he leaves. To me, the best part about Esports is getting better at the sport. So when you think or see Esports, be reminded that it is a real sport and that it means a lot to New Way.
