On March 6th, the high school of New Way will be having Field Day. The Field Day will be in two places: the gym and the backfield. The New Way High School homerooms will compete against each other. They will be doing this in a lot of competitions, including a relay race, balloon toss, and bump-out. Homerooms will also be wearing tie-dye shirts in colors for their homerooms.
This is our first Field Day in association with the Fun and Color Run. In recent years, we’ve seen that high school students are less interested in the color run, and the school wanted to try something new and engaging with a focus on community! The purpose is to build a team identity amongst homerooms while encouraging participation in our current peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
Field Days are a fun, exciting opportunity for students to work together as a homeroom team to accomplish engaging activities! They help teach kids teamwork and how to have fun with friends and not just yourself!
Field Day is a super fun thing to do at school because it can serve as a large, high-energy celebration for everyone to enjoy and celebrate close to the end of the school year. It can be seen as a day to enjoy physical activity, share with the community, and have joy. The main purpose of the field day is to get together with other students and teachers and encourage them to get active.
What I think makes Field Day special is its unique way to bring the entire school community together while creating positive feelings for the students and teachers. It creates a place where everyone feels special and can teach important life lessons on sportsmanship, encouragement, and teamwork through fun and games. I feel like it is more than just a day of games; it is a special, exciting celebration of school spirit, and just good ‘old-fashioned fun.
