New Way Volleyball Girls
For the first time, New Way has a girls’ volleyball team! The fans have really enjoyed having a girls’ volleyball team. I have interviewed 2 players, Faith Henojosa and Layla Kendrick, about how the season has been going so far.
“Faith, what’s so special about this team?”
Faith – “What I find special about this team is being able to be with my friends and cheer each other on.”
“Layla, what is something you love about this team?”
Layla – “What I love about my team is that we all support each other, whether we didn’t get the ball over the net, or just comforting each other. I also love that the team celebrates everyone.
“Faith, how was it when you first joined the team? Was it exciting?
Faith – “I was very excited to join volleyball. I joined last year, and I really had fun, so I wanted to join again this year
“Layla, why did you choose to be in volleyball?
Layla – “I choose to be in volleyball because I have done a few sports and I havent liked them. When I tried volleyball, I immediately liked it.
“Faith, what were your thoughts being a new or returning volleyball player
Faith -“ I think that it’s amazing seeing new classmates join volleyball and making friends and people who I thought wouldn’t be interested in playing.”
“Layla, what made you love this sport
Layla -“ I love hitting the ball and playing for a team. In my family, when we get into high school, we have to play a sport or join a club, so I chose volleyball.
I can say that their team is very outgoing, everyone is super nice, and even if you don’t know anything about volleyball, they’ll teach you. Everyone is so kind, funny, etc. They’re very energetic and amazing with everyone. Everyone played equally with each other, helping each other out if someone didn’t do well on a server or something. Everyone had their own idea and showed the coach if it was okay to learn something new, and another player had to teach it
Coach Stringer was always on point with the students; she never picked favorites, her energy was always on point, and when someone was feeling down, she would have a one-on-one with the student, amazing positivity around everyone, and everything, the team helped with others to
Amazing coach. The coach is watching, and sitting on the bench is really supportive. If they’re not feeling well on their serves, then they still find a way to be very supportive, but sadly, she has moved out of Arizona to go live in Mexico City. But she has left her lasting mark on New Way Academy.
