Ever since the Arizona Coyotes left the valley, there has been a large hole in the hockey community for Arizona. One team that is trying to patch that hole is the Arizona State University men’s hockey team.
One way ASU is helping with the hockey absence is by allowing people to buy hockey tickets at a pure affordable price of $60 so people who want to go to games can.
The second way ASU is helping with the absence of hockey is by hosting a lot of community events, such as helping in youth hockey programs, funding many different hockey leagues, and teaching kids how to play hockey.
A little background on Arizona State University hockey; originally when the Sun Devils were added to Division I, the two biggest issues were both money and a new arena. The arena ice was mushy so it took 2 years and $60 million to build the current arena for the ASU Sun Devils which was renovated as Mullet Arena
Arizona State is helping with the absence of the Arizona Coyotes by keeping hockey and its culture alive in Arizona. ASU has amazingly revived and strengthened our hockey community, and it has also opened hockey to a lot of more people, leading to hockey becoming a more popular sport overall.
Personally, I thought that Arizona hockey would die if the Coyotes left, but I was proven wrong by the ASU Sun Devils as they have reshaped hockey from what the Coyotes made it by making it look fun, exciting, and interesting for not only kids but teens and young adults also.
ASU is a great hockey school according to multiple sources, as they have had a winning record for the last 5 years. Currently, the Sun Devils hockey team is ranked 10 In the Division I standings with a record of 17-11-2 17 wins 11 loses 2 draws. They are 10th in the nation.
A small update on the Utah Hockey Club, formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes. They are currently a playoff team with a 22-20 record with the 5th seed in the West Conference. Overall, this is not a bad record considering they were 36-46 last year. Good job Utah Hockey Club.
