On December 4th, 2025, all of Mr. Brodie’s high school Digital Media classes visited Alpha Graphics, a digital design studio. It was a very cool studio that had a lot of design tech, including laser printers, colored printers, packaging machines, and Graphic Designs.
There were tons of stuff that was shown during the field trip like, for example, the digital printers worked by using files that were digital, and they got rid of the need to use regular printing plates. This made it able to print things faster and in an instant. There were also offset printers, which is a normal way to move ink to a rubber blanket from a plate, and then it gets put on the surface it needs to get printed. This way is ideal for large print runs, and it’s how it produces regular quality and bright colors. There were also large-format printers, which are made to print large graphics, like banners, posters, and signage. These machines use specialized ink and material to make sure it has strong and bright colors, making them able to use outside and inside for displays. There we saw and met New Way Alumni Harrison Furlong working at Alpha Graphics!
The high school Digital Media team saw a lot on the field trip, and it was all very exciting. I hope we go back someday in the future.
