On October 20th 2025 at New Way Academy most students expected the usual from a New Way Monday rush, the first 5 classes at went by, and it was time for everyone at high-school favorite lunch but what all of New Way didn’t know was going to go down during that lunch period. Starting from the beginning most students here eating and just about to head outside when they heard the dreaded sound of a fire alarm, the immediate reaction was students wondering ‘is this a drill?’ What is going on for me? To talk about my experience, personally, I, the writer of this article, was eating at the time with my friends when the alarm first blared I thought someone pulled it. I was definitely not happy to say the least, the high school teachers told us to met with our homerooms and head to the back field, all of the high school students complained. As students headed to the back field everyone wondered ‘is this real?’ ‘did someone pull the fire alarm?’ We didn’t know what to do as the students lined up with their homerooms. We finally got some information about the fire that happened apparently what had happened was the A.C. motor that was meant to cool the room had overheated and was not working as it was intended. The report came from the 202 wing (or the middle school wing) an admin at New Way was told to pull the fire alarm by Ms. Keathley. They then called the fire department to come and check it out. They removed it and the room had no damage and no fire broke out which was the good news, after the fire department let. Around 15 minutes later they give us the all clear to head back to lunch in which the school extended lunch to high school for what happened, recess was also extended to compensate for the interference overall. Technically, a fire never broke out which is a good thing, and we got a shortened 7th period too, which is enjoyable. The fire definitely will leave its legacy mark on New Way, it definitely beats a burnt toast fire.
