Roblox, amidst the Schlep controversy, has announced that it plans to make major changes to safety for the platform to help decrease the number of pedophiles on the platform. But, first, about Schlep himself, Schlep is the name of a Roblox-based YouTube content creator who has been known to catch predators on the platform. But recently, he has been banned for exposing safety issues.. The changes Roblox made in response start with Roblox announcing a new rating system that they plan to use to rate and age-restrict games. They will partner with the IARC on this. Roblox has also planned to remove chat for multiple countries in an attempt to better tighten the security on the platform. Although they have received praise for the act, most considered it an attempt at damage control, as Roblox is still embroiled in the drama, which is escalating.
In response, Schelp, the Roblox YouTuber who got predators arrested, will be teaming up with another major YouTuber named Law by Mike, who is known for his videos about explaining laws, but in a funny way. The video that Schlep and Law by Mike made against Roblox has gathered millions of views and absolutely cooks Roblox. On top of this, Schlep announced that he has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation with the help of Law by Mike and other lawyers. On top of that, Roblox took a large financial hit as they have lost over 12 billion dollars in stock market cap value, and as of today, Roblox is still picking up the pieces of the loss. This drama has also resonated with the Roblox development community, as many top developers and UGC creators have shown massive support for Schlep by creating free Schlep games and avatar items.
This ironically also had an impact on the Roblox Innovation Awards, which, for those who don’t know what the innovation award is, it is the Roblox award show for all of the games on the platform and ugc items. With many of Roblox’s top developers refusing to take part and having a handful kicked out for supporting Schelp, this has led to a massive shortage in games and UGC creators that are eligible to receive an award. This has forced Roblox to make some nominations that under normal circumstances would have never even been considered for an award.
As damning as that sounds for Roblox its not even the worst part because at RDC, or Roblox Developer Conference of 2025 when David Backuzi Roblox CEO was taking a private interview some of the parts from that interview where leaked and the things he said made his reputation go from terrible to unsavable as he said and I quote “Schlep is a problem he doesn’t go through the proper meshes to report people and all he does is cause harm to our community” of course after this got leaked Roblox has put in another controversy that they just didn’t need this is also some of Schelp’s base for why he is suing Roblox to try and get his account back. With that being leaked, all it shows is that David Bouzouki is so far apart from his own community, and that all he cares about is impressing the investors so he can make as much money as humanly possible from investors.
As bad as that seems there was come good to come from Roblox development conference 2025 with multiple new statements including a developer increase in revenue by 8.5 percent being the largest developer increase on Roblox history another major win was the Roblox annual RDC awards with multiple new games winning awards including grow a garden steal a brainrot and 99 night in the forest taking home a lot of awards with grow a garden taking home a record 5 awards at the show. Roblox as a whole is starting to improve and get worse at the same time. In terms of this, I stand on this: Roblox needs a new CEO. David Basuki is too lost in his vision and does not care enough about the safety of his platform’s children. I wish there were another way for Roblox to get better, but until David Basuki is gone, Roblox is always going to be a universally controversial video game.
